Supporting Families, Empowering Women: Gully Classes Foundation’s Ration Drive in Collaboration with Reliance Foundation

In times of hardship, small acts of kindness can go a long way. At Gully Classes Foundation, our mission to serve communities goes beyond classrooms—and this time, it’s about ensuring no family sleeps hungry.

With the generous support of Reliance Foundation and @connectfor.cf, we recently launched a ration distribution drive, aiming to provide essential food supplies to 200 families living in underserved communities. From dry groceries to hygiene essentials, each kit was thoughtfully packed to support households struggling with access to basic needs.

First Stops: Narayan Nagar and Dharavi

Our distribution journey began at Narayan Nagar, Ghatkopar West, where local residents welcomed our team with warmth and gratitude. The next major stop was Dharavi (Mahim side)—one of Mumbai’s most densely populated areas. Volunteers from both organizations came together to coordinate logistics, identify families in need, and ensure an orderly and respectful distribution process.

These are just the first of many locations on our roadmap. With each step, we are not only distributing food—we are building connections and trust with the communities we serve.

In Dharavi, one of Mumbai’s most densely populated areas, our volunteers stepped in with compassion and commitment, distributing ration kits to families facing food insecurity. What made this initiative even more meaningful was the integration of eco-conscious and livelihood-supportive practices. Instead of using plastic packaging, we distributed all ration kits in cloth handbags made by women trained under our women empowerment program.

These reusable, durable bags are a small but powerful step toward sustainability—and a source of income for local women who handcrafted them with care. This thoughtful addition reflects our belief that relief work should also empower.
