Empowering Women, One Diya at a Time – Diwali: A Hope Project

Updated: Nov 27

At Gully Classes Foundation, we believe in the power of community and the strength of women. On this Diwali, we were excited to bring our Diwali A Hope initiative to Ramniranjan Jhunjhunwala College (Autonomous), Mumbai, where we set up a vibrant stall showcasing the beautiful hand-painted diyas crafted and sold by women artisans in our program.

In just 6 hours, our women entrepreneurs sold over 150 diyas to students and staff at the college, spreading joy and light this festive season. But beyond illuminating homes, this initiative is about lighting the way to financial independence for these talented women. Each diya sold represents not just a handmade creation, but a step towards empowering women, providing them with a platform to showcase their skills and earn a sustainable income.

We are deeply grateful to Usha Mukundan (Ex-Principal), DB Sir, and the NSS Unit of RJ College for their unwavering support and encouragement. Their belief in our mission and efforts to empower women makes this initiative possible and inspires us to continue making a positive impact in the community.
