At Gully Classes Foundation, we believe that education is not just confined to textbooks and classrooms. True learning happens when students engage with real-world issues, develop hands-on skills, and contribute to meaningful social change. Recently, our Founder & Director, Abdul Munaf, along with team members Mira Sayed, Hakim Shaikh, and Amaan Ansari, had the privilege of representing the foundation at Sathaye College, Ville Parle, Mumbai. This event was part of the New Education Policy (NEP) initiative, in collaboration with Sharp HRD Services, aimed at bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application for students.
The Role of the New Education Policy (NEP)Empowering Students Through Real-World Experience: Gully Classes Foundation at Sathaye College, Mumbai
The New Education Policy introduces a progressive requirement where students must complete 120–180 hours of on-the-job training. At Gully Classes Foundation, we see this as a fantastic opportunity to help students not only develop essential skills but also engage directly with pressing societal challenges. By offering students the chance to apply their academic learning to real-world problems, we are preparing them to
During our session at Sathaye College, we discussed how students can actively particiand contribute to meaningful social causes. Some of the kepics we covered included:
1. Education Inequality
We highlighted the significant disparity in the education system between privileged and underprivileged children. Students were encouraged to get involved in our education initiatives, which aim to bridge this gap and provide quality education to children from underserved communities.
2. Grassroots Challenges in Slum Communities
We discussed the importance of grassroots work and offered students the opportunity to gain firsthand exposure to the challenges faced by urban slum communities. These challenges are complex but crucial to address if we aim to create sustainable social change.
3. Environmental Initiatives and Women Empowerment Projects
Students were invited to join our ongoing environmental initiatives and women empowerment projects. These efforts not only help improve the lives of underprivileged women and communities but also provide students with personal growth opportunities by fostering empathy, leadership, and social responsibility.
4. Empower Stop Initiative
We introduced students to our Empower Stop initiative, which focuses on empowering women by giving them opportunities to create and sell unique, handcrafted products. This Diwali, students were encouraged to support women artisans by promoting their handmade items as gifts for the festive season, contributing to their economic empowerment.
